Active substance:
Cefaclor Monohydrate

Pharmacotherapeutic group:
Cefaclor is a beta-lactam antibiotic, a cephalosporin.
ATC code: J01DC04

Mechanism of action:
The mechanism of action of Cefaclor is based on the inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis (in the growth phase) by blocking the penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) such as transpeptidases. This results in a bactericidal effect.

Therapeutic indications:
For the treatment of acute or chronic infections of different severity caused by pathogens that are sensitive to cefaclor and accessible to oral therapy.

This includes:

  • Upper and lower respiratory tract infections
  • Infections of ear, nose and throat, such as otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis
  • Renal and urinary tract infections
  • Skin and soft tissue infections
  • Gonorrhea
